Global Warming Is Exaggerated?

According to an on going Gallop polling survey conducted on the subject of global warming, new data suggests that in 2009, 41% of those surveyed (the most since the survey began in 1998) think global warming is exaggerated. In general, 57% (down from a high of 66% in 2001 and 2006) of those surveyed still believe that global warming is either correctly portrayed by the media or underestimated. However, this level indicates the highest level of skepticism on the subject of global warming since the polling began. Other more pressing issues could be the reason such as the global economic recession.
However, we must be not forget about the pressing issues of climate change. We can’t forget that sea level rises could eventually swallow up low lying countries like the Netherlands. The picture above is a storm surge barrier called Maeslant. It protects the port of Rotterdam, the 2nd largest port in the world. It has been called a modern marvel and has been the feature of the Modern Marvels show on The History Channel. These massive flood gates protect the Netherlands from nasty storm surges that would normally flood the densely populated Netherlands. But as sea levels rise in decades to come, these gates will get used more and more, and one day may become obsolete.
